Firewall configuration

We recommend you use only one firewall software on your computer. If you want to use 3rd party firewall such as Zone Alarm and Norton Internet Security, disable XP Windows Firewall. If you have other firewall running before installing SP2, you may need to remove and re-install it. To test the connection, disable your firewall.

To disable Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2, follow these steps:

1. Open Windows firewall. You may have many options to open Windows Firewall.

     1) Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.

     2) Open Control Panel, double-click Windows firewall.

     3) Go to Network Connection, select Change Windows Firewall Settings.

2. On the General tab, click Off (not recommended), and then click OK.

Note: you can also stop Windows Firewall/internet Sharing Connection service, but that will disable ICS.
