Moving VM error: Failed to establish a connection because of an unsupported protocol version (protocol version 6.0)

Situation: When move a VM from Windows 2016 to Windows 2012 R2, you may receive this message: Failed to establish a connection because of an unsupported protocol version (protocol version 6.0)

Troubleshooting: 1. This could be CPU compatibility issue, which prevent you move VM between different hosts.

2. Also, any VM’s created on the 2016 start as version 8 for Hyper-V configuration, where as my 2012R2 machines are version 5. If you want to be able to move the VM’s from 2016->2012 R2 you may need to make the VM first on the 2012 R2 machine.  You can’t downgrade it.

Just wanted to let you know I found the answer:

“What you are experiencing is “ By Design”.

When replying to messages in Rich Text format, embedded images in the message body, including signature are removed and replaced by the following text:

<< OLE Object: Picture (Device Independent Bitmap) >>

This behavior does not occur in Microsoft Outlook 2003 with Word as the editor, which is the available comparable configuration in Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2010.

Workaround:

=======

Reply in HTML rather than RTF format; however, this is not at the discretion of the original sender, but of the replier”

I was set-up to reply in Rich Text by default, but when I switch to HTML it is in all the replies!
