Computer Browser Cases

Case 1: The client has a master browser issue recently. The PDC keeps receive Even ID 8003 - The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer <computer name> that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport <Card #>.

Cause: After used ipconfig /all command on all problematic computers, we found all these computers used different DHCP. Please refer to this page: Event ID 8003 - Master Browser issue

Case 2: This problem occurs if the subnet mask of the Windows NT client computer is incorrect or different from the PDC. The client computer attempts to promote itself to the master browser of the subnet and fails.

Case 3: Make sure the current registry key on the server you wish to be the Master Browser:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters]
"IsDomainMaster"="TRUE"

and make sure that all other DC's in the domain either have no such entry or "FALSE" as the "IsDomainMaster" value.
