System error 1312 has occurred - A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.

Symptom: when trying to net a network drive in a domain network, you may receive above message, for example,

net use h: \\ms-mvps\data /USER:Administrator Password.

A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.

Resolution: The drive you are trying to map needs a specified logon session even the username and password are correct. In our above case, you need to add domain username to map the drive, for example,

net use h: \\ms-mvps\data /USER:chicagotech\Administrator Password.
