The Remote Procedure Call Failed

Symptom 1: After installed ISA 2000 on a Windows Server 2003 computer, you may receive the following error message: The remote procedure call failed when you stop Firewall service in the ISA Management utility

Resolution 1: 1) To resolve this problem, install the ISA Server 2000 Required Updates for Windows Server 2003 package described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

331062 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331062/EN-US/) Running ISA Server 2000 on Windows Server 2003

2) Upgrade the latest SP.

3) Stop the Microsoft Firewall services by using the Services Control Panel tool. To do that, click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open box, and then click OK. In the Name list, right-click Microsoft Firewall, and then click Stop.

Symptom 2: Your computer gives message "remote procedure call(rpc) service terminated unexpectedly", then restarts on it's own.

Resolution: You may have a virus in your computer. Check this link Remote Procedure call terminated unexpectedly.

Symptom 3: When attempting to install a software, you may receive this error: The Remote Procedure Call Failed.

Resolution 3: this may be a compatibility issues. 1) Upgrade the latest SP. 2) Upgrade the latest drivers.
