Event ID 215 - The backup has been stopped because it was halted by the client

Causes and Resolutions:

  1. There is a problem with the hardware such as hard disk or the hard disk controller. Check the Event Viewer for any errors. Run the Chkdsk utility to determine whether a problem exists with the hard disk drives. Also try to upgrade the firmware for the controller.
  2. There is a problem with the software. Make sure the backup software is compatibility with the Windows OS. If you run Windows NTBackup, make sure no third party backup software installed in the same server. Install latest SP.
  3. The information store database is damaged or corrupted.
  4. If you are running SBS with SQL, the problem may occur when the backup program tries to use a Sqlvdi.dll file that has been unregistered. To register Sqlvdi.dll, Stop SQL Server. Click Start, click Run, type Regsvr32 Path\SQLVDI.DLL in the Open box, and then click OK. The default path of the Sqlvdi.dll file is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM. Restart SQL Server.
