Event ID 2012 - The server has encountered a network error In general, Event ID 2012 indicated there is a connectivity or name resolution problems. Possible Causes and Solution: 1. Upgrade the NIC drive. 2. Re-configure the NIC settings, for example, re-set the NIC speed to match the switch/hub/router speed. 4. Try another NIC. 5. Check the DNS and WINS settings. 6. Make sure the DC is not running on a multihomed computer. 7. Install a WINS server if you have WAN or VPN. 8. If you don’t use IPX, remove it from the computer. 8. If you do need IPX, check for the IPX protocol and the Btrieve applications on the server.
