Event ID 1586 - The destination server is currently rejecting replication requests Event ID 1113 and 1115 Symptom: Event Id 1586 Warning - The checkpoint with the PDC was unsuccessful. The checkpointing process will be retried again in four hours. A full synchronization of the security database to downlevel domain controllers may take place if this machine is promoted to be the PDC before the next successful checkpoint. The error returned was: The destination server is currently rejecting replication requests. Resolutions: 1. Make sure you have good connection between DCs and correct DNS settings. You may want to run the dcdiag and netdiag to troubleshoot. 2. If you also receive Event ID 1115, you may want to disable and the re-enable Outbound Replication by these command: repadmin /options <DC NAME> +DISABLE_OUTBOUND_REPL repadmin /options <DC NAME> -DISABLE_OUTBOUND_REPL 3. If you also receive Event ID 1113, you may want to disable and the re-enable Inbound Replication by these command: repadmin /options <DC NAME> +DISABLE_INBOUND_REPL repadmin /options <DC NAME> -DISABLE_INBOUND_REPL 4. If you have an issue to demote or promote domain controller, you may want to run a Metadata Cleanup to remove data in Active Directory following this article: How to remove data in Active Directory after an unsuccessful domain controller demotion http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;216498 . Or try to demote the domain controller by using the Active Directory Installation Wizard again following this article: Domain controllers do not demote gracefully when you use the Active Directory Installation Wizard to force demotion in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows 2000 Serverhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;332199 . 5. Make sure all DCs have the same time settings. After we set all DCs to the exact same date/time, the error disappeared.Related Topics
