"Object Picker cannot open because no locations from which to choose objects could be found"

Symptoms: When managing Active Directory Objects from a Windows 2000/2003  using Active Directory Users and Computers you may receive an error message stating "Object Picker Cannot open because no locations from which to choose objects could be found".

Causes: 1. The computer has incorrect DNS settings.

2. The domain controller is down.

3. The computer is multi-homed computer and the LAN interface connection is not the first connection.

Resolution: 1. Make sure you have correct DNS settings - Troubleshooting DNS Issues.

2. Make sure you can connect to the DC – Case Study “Object Picker cannot open because no locations from which to choose objects could be found”

3. To fix multihomed computer issue, change the order of the LAN interface to be the first connection.
