VMM Error 3148:  \\?\Volume is not accessible - Resolution with screenshots

Situation: when attempting to convert a Windows 2000 physical machine to VM on VMM 2008 R2, the client gets this error message:

Error (3148)
The volume \\?\Volume{a7cadf50-bd07-11e4-af4e-806d6172696f}\ selected for physical-to-virtual imaging is not accessible from Windows PE. This is usually caused by missing or incorrect storage drivers. comm01 may now need to be manually restarted into the original operating system using the boot menu.

Recommended Action
Exclude this volume from conversion. Or, if you are performing offline physical-to-virtual conversions, create a new folder under C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2\Driver Import on the VMM computer and then copy all of the storage or networks drivers to the new folder.

Warning (3131)
The job failed to restart comm01 (temporary computer name is p2v-dzmd) back into the original operating system. Automatic restart is scheduled to occur within 15 minutes.

Recommended Action
If hsa-comm01 does not restart in 15 minutes, manually restart it back into the original operating system using the boot menu.

Resolution: Uncheck \\?\volume on the Volume Configuration as shown below. Then try the conversion.
