DFS Replication Problem - Resolution with screenshots

We are running windows 2012 R2 servers. We created DFS on two servers. The problem is it doesn't show “Read only” when two users open the same file. If both users make change, we have two version of the same file. For example, the user A opens schedule.xls, he opens it from the dfs03 (the folder properties show dfs03 is active on computer A). At the same time, the User B opens the same name file, it open from dfs04 (dfs04 is active computer B). After they modify the file and save, only the last saved file is available and first user's save loses.

Resolution: By design, if the files are in two different servers, there will be no alert. it will not show any warning about this file is in using. The last edition version will be saved and replicated according to the DFSR conflict algorithms.

1.  My temporary solution is mapping the dfs03 server (\\dfs03\shared)only instead of domain (\\domainname\shared0, and replica all files from dfs03 to dfs04. The problem is if the dfs03 is down, we need to change the mapping manually

2. Disable other target folders and only keep one folder target which will points to only one server as the screenshot below, so all the users try to access the DFS path will connect to folder on the same server.
