Can't access ADFS with this message: "There was a problem accessing the site" - Resolution with screenshots

Situation: The client has an ADFS server to sync their Active Directory to the Office 365. When attempting to login ADFS server, they get this message: There was a problem accessing the site. Try to browse to the site again. If the problem persists, contact the administrator of this site and provide the reference number to identify the problem.

Possible causes and resolutions: 1. The ADFS server is down.

2. The ADFS service is not running.

3. The ADFS requires email address to login, the users enter their username only. They should use username@compnay.com instead of username.

4. ADFS server and ADFS proxy have a communication problem.

5. Install Microsoft update.

6. restart ADFS server.
