Can't join the client to SBS 2008 using Connect

Situation: We can't join the SBS 2008 domain using http://connect. The message is the page cannot be display.

In most cases, this is name resolution issue.

Case 1: We can't ping connect, but ping sbs2008 server name works. However, if we ping connect.chicagotech.net, it works.

Resolution: run ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns.

Case 2: Run ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns to fix it.

Case 3: The Connect A record was missing in SBS 2008 DNS Manager. Creating it fixes it.

Case 4: The client was using the router as DNS server. Resolution: create the DNS server on SBS 2008.

Case 5: Alternative solution is enable WINS server or enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

Case 6: Or use FQDN to join the domain, for example, http"//connect.chicagotech.net.
