Postby chicagotech » Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:48 pm

Q: We have windows 2003 CD and 2003 R2 with SP2 CD, but we don't have windows 2003 SP2 CD. When we add a windows component, it may ask for windows 2003 SP2 CD. What should we do?

A: Issue Analysis:
Windows server 2003 R2 with SP2 should consist of two disk. One of them is
standard windows server 2003 SP2. The other is component of R2.
So, if you have the installation disk of R2 with SP2, you can install it
with the first disk.

Install that component with the first disk of windows server 2003 R2
installation disk.

Moreover, most of the component can be installed by any version of windows
server 2003 installation disk.

Take following steps.
1. Open "Control Panel"
2. In "Add Remove program", choose "Add/remove Windows Component"
3. Select the component you want to install
4. It will prompt you to insert the disk.
5. Insert it and explore to the file needed. Usually, it is located in
"i386" folder.

If you just need to install Windows original component, the first disk is
enough for you.
