IE intermittently you receive no response

Postby guest » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:41 pm

You are using a web-based application but intermittently you receive no response and the browser
times out for a few minutes trying to retrieve the web page.

This issue can be caused by incorrect network settings or malfunction
Netgear router. Based on the current situation, I suggest we perform the
following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Suggestion 1:
===========
1. Update the firmware of the Netgear router or replace the Netgear router
with a known good one
2. Upgrade the web-based application to the latest one

Suggestion 2: Reset network settings
===============================
1. Click Start, Run, type "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc" (Without the
quotation) and then press Enter.
2. Right-click on the file "Hosts" (without quotations) and choose Rename
3. Rename the file to "hostsold" (without quotations)
4. Then, clear the DNS (Domain Name Resolution) cache, reset winsock,

1). Click Start, Run, type "cmd" (Without the quotation) and press Enter.
2). In the opened window, type: "ipconfig /flushdns" (Without quotations)
and press Enter.
3). In the opened window, type "netsh winsock reset" (without the quotation
marks, you may copy and paste this command), and then press Enter.
4). In the opened window, type: "netsh int ip reset" (Without quotations)
and press Enter.

5). Restart your computer and check the issue again

If this issue persists after performing the steps above, let's perform a
Clean Boot to troubleshoot the issue.

Suggestion 3: Clean Boot
=============
Let's disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This
method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program
or service. Please perform the following steps:

1. Click "Start", go to "Run", and type "msconfig" (without the quotation
marks) in the open box to start the System Configuration Utility.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box
and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
4. Click "OK" to restart your computer to Selective Startup environment.
5. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the
"Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when
Windows starts" box and click OK.
6. Check whether or not the issue still appears in this environment.

Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup
programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other
programs. We may still manually run these programs later.

How to return from a Clean Boot state
=============================
1. Click "Start"->"Run", type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) and
press ENTER.
2. On the "General" tab, click "Normal Startup - load all device drivers
and services".
3. Click "OK". Click "Restart" when you are prompted to restart your
computer.
