Guest server in 2008 Hyper-v can see USB drive

Postby guest » Wed Aug 06, 2008 8:44 pm

Q: I have windows 2008 running hyper-v. The guest server is running windows 2003. If I connect a USB drive, I can see it in windows 2008 but not windows 2003. What do I need to do so hat I can use USB drive on guest server?

A: This is an expected behavrio. That Hyper-V server doesn't support USB
driver and the USB device won't appear in the Windows 2003 Virtual Machine.
The workaround is that you use the Remote Desktop Connection >Choose Local
Resources>Click More>Choose USB drive letter and then connected to the
Windows 2003 Virtual Machine.

Then the USB device is redirected to the Windows 2003 Virtual Machine.
