Pre-authentication Failure

I forgot to mention that it is only the vista machine that cause this error on our domain controller. The rest of the machines in our network run XP.

I think the problem is User Name: COMPUTERNAME$. Is this Vista computer name? It should be the username. Or check this post:

Event ID 675, Failure Code: 0x19, Event ID 2: Reason-Code = 8 ...

I get events with the username as well but most of the time it shows the computername$ for the username. When it shows the actual username the errors are still exactly the same as when it shows the computername$. Also, comptuername$ is the vista machine's computer name. It always seems to happen when a user first logins to the vista machine or the user is unlocking the vista machine.

DNS entries on the server for this workstation are correct. Has Host and PTR record on DNS server. Also the workstation is pointed to the right DNS servers.

These guys seem to have had the same problem but with no solution:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs/browse_thread/thread/7199551fed72672d/909c2a963d1fb9af?lnk=st&q=Pre-authentication+Failure+code+0x19&rnum=4&hl=en#

The only difference in my case is that we are not running SBS.
