My friend get a new latop work fine for 1 week. and suddenly won't boot to the window xp. It keep go back to the select boot screen. We try to boot from save mode, command prompt, last good, ect. Nothing work. And we went to the BISO for hard drive self test and it pop up the message said "fault'. Since we don't have window xp CD on the hand, we did not try to reinstall it. Can you boot it from a bootable floppy disk?

Since you at least see the Advanced Boot Options menu, you do have a boot.

Hopefullly the XP Edition you have came with Service Pack 2. There therefore will be a boot option to disable automaticly restarting in the event of a system error. Choose that. This should finally show you a Blue screen with an error number and error text.

Post both back to the Forum. Although if this is a brand new laptop, you seriously should consider a Warranty repair if you do not have an XP CD.

Regards.
