WINS service will not start with error 2: cannot find file

Postby guest » Sat Dec 02, 2006 11:31 am

I have just migrated a W2K3 SBS to newer hardware.

The WINS service will not start. I get an Error 2: cannot find file corrupt or missing - error message.

I have run jetpack on the wins.mdb file and it compacted to 2MB

I have removed all files from the WINS folder, hoping to create a new default one, but it has not.

The remote registry service is running as the Microsoft website suggests that could be the cause.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to remove and re-install the WINS.

It works after re-installing WINS. Thanks.
