Winsxs issue on Windows 2008 R2

Postby guest » Mon Mar 12, 2012 8:54 am

We are running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise with PS1. The server has two drives, C is 80GB and D is 1TB. The RAM is 48GB. Now, the C dive is low space and Winsxs uses over 10GB. Questions.

1.Should I reduce winsxs size? If yes, how?
2.Can I move some files from winsxs to D drive? If yes, how?
3.Should I reset some virtual memory from C to D? If yes, what’s the best practice?

I found this statement on Microsoft wesite: remove the winsxs folder to another drive is not recommended and not supported by Microsoft
