Convert one computer image to another computer

Postby chicagotech » Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:29 pm

Q: I have some old apps running on my XP computer. The computer has some hardware issue and I want to transfer all pass to a new computer but I don't have the software disk to re-install them. I have tried to use backup/restore it to a different computer, but that doesn't work. What's my options?

A: You may have some options. The best one is convert the physical computer to a virtual machine using Virtual PC/Server, Hyper-V or Virtual Box. Or some softare like Aconis may do it.
