Can't open JPG images

Situation: The client will no longer open JPG images.

Resolution: changed the JPGs to open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Once changed the pictures opened. Open an image with MS Office Picture Manager (the old default) and the picture opened. Changed the default back to MS Office Picture Manager and all JPGs are once again opening fine.
