Need Cisco router education please

Postby Joseph » Tue Oct 16, 2007 10:33 pm

Hello,

I am in need of Cisco education please as I have never encountered one before until now.
The specific models that I have been working with are the 1720 and 1721.

I have never accessed a Cisco router so I have no idea what to expect.
I do have, however a network that I need some info on that I cannot get in perspective because of this. I can give all the info I have and maybe someone can fill in the gaps for me...?

Most appreciated
Joe

You can use telnet to access the router, for example, telnet 192.168.0.1. Do you know the password?

Hello,

The IP I guess for access is 10.222.221.254
and for the other router is 66.236.235.201

I was given the passwords I cannot access the router at this time but I am not there.

See here is the issue. There are two Routers invoved here (actually three). One has an IP on the LAN 10.222.221.254
and all PC and servers use this as their default gateway. However it is not the ISP's router. I was told that all Internet traffic was being routed through 10.222.221.249. I suppose from this router at 10.222.221.254

How can this be if the WAN of the other ISP Cisco is 66.236.235.201/206 this would make the gateway of the ISP's router .201 and first usable IP 202, and this would be the gateway for access on the LAN.

However I do not know the LAN side of this router. How would .254 rout through 201
I was also tole by the ISP that there is other routs in this router 10.222.221.0
10.222.223.0

I really don't want to sound confusing but I am confused so this is why it sounds this way

Thanks for your help I have tried to get to the bottom of this for about three months now.

Posting the configuration of the router may help.

Hello,

Ok Should I post the configuration of the 10.222.221.254?
that is the one I supposedly have the password to.

Ok lets say I get to the login via telnet. What would I see next after login?
What would I do to get the router configuration?

Thanks Chicagotech

if both 10.222.221.254 and 66.236.235.201 are in the same router, it doesn't matter. The configuration has all configuration information.

Hello,

The reason I say this is because the Ethernet side of these routers go into the same switch.

Thanks
