How to configure a port for VLAN

Postby guest » Wed Sep 19, 2007 5:10 pm

Q: Our consultant had created a VLAN for us. How can I configure a port to use the VLAN which will assign a different subnet for public accessing the Internet.

A: You may need to add switchport access vlan ###. For example, in our Cisco Switch 3500, we have port 19 with this configure:
interface FastEthernet0/19
spanning-tree portfast.

We want to configure VLAN 300. We login the switch and enable it. Then do conf t and

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
3524_1(config)#interface FastEthernet0/19
3524_1(config-if)# switchport access vlan 300
3524_1(config-if)#exit
3524_1(config)#exit
3524_1#wr mem
