Can Windows Server Backup tools back up VM

I have one Windows 2008 server running Hyper-V. If I use Windows Server Backup tools to backup whole computer, does it backup VM?

The answer is Yes. However, you need to register the Hyper-V VSS writer for the Windows Server backup firstly. Please follow the KB article below to do so.

No, after registering the VSS writer for the Windows Server backup tool, you can perform the online backup for Virtual Machines which means that you don't have to shutdown the VM.
