Hyper-V VM is no longer accessible (0x80070003)

Postby chicagotech » Tue Jun 11, 2013 9:43 pm

Situation: The client is running some VM on Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V. They can’t start one of VM with Event ID 4096: The Virtual Machines Configuration {GUID} at ‘{Directory}’ is no longer accessible: The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003).

Case 1: Make sure you have permissions to access the VHD file.

Case 2: The path points to VHD are incorrect.

Case 3: We have a similar case. We fixed it by copy the VHD to different location and re-create the VM.
