DMP 2010 backup Hyper-V R2 CSV cluster event ID 3311

We have installed DPM2010 and are trying to backup Hyper-V R2 VM's. Every time we run the backup job the following error message appears in DPM2010 and in the event log

:Eventlog

The back up to tape job failed for the following reason: (ID: 3311) The VSS application writer or the VSS provider is in a bad state. Either it was already in a bad state or it entered a bad state during the current operation. (ID: 30111)
:DMP2010

The VSS application writer or the VSS provider is in a bad state or entered a bad state during the current operation (ID30111 Details VssError. The writer experienced a non-transient error. if the backup process is retried, the error is likely to reoccur. (0x800423F4))
We are using a VSS hardware provider from EMC on all of the four Hyper-V hosts. The version of the VSS hardware provider is 4.3 and the SAN is a CX4-120.

I have tried to implement the solution from to backup virtual machine on CSV with the system VSS provider but also the same error

What is going wrong here. I thought with installing teh hardware provider allt he issues shoudl be solved.

Charl if the backups are failing regardless of if you’re leveraging either the System or Hardware provider then chances are the host(s) may not be in a good state to take the backup. You need to check the Hyper-V host(s) for any errors from VSS or Volsnap. In addition, please open an elevated command prompt on the host(s) and execute “VSSADMIN.exe List Writers” and then check the output on the screen to see what the state of the Hyper-V writer is listed as.
