ws-management service cannot process the request

Postby guest » Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:02 pm

i have installed a win 2k8 R2 core installation and have set up all the necessary details that i could connect remotely.

I have setup Hyper-V and am able to connect to it via my Win 7 viaRSAT without an issue.

Currently i have only C: but have another logical drive that i hope to use for my images as D:

I receive the following error when trying to connect vir server manager not only from my win7 but other win2k8 R2 servers as well using domain admin credentials.

server manager cannot connect to <server name>. Click retry to try to connect again.
Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: the ws-management service cannot process the request. The resource URI

...;//schemas.microsoft.com/powershell/microsoft.serverM... was not found in the WS-Management catalog. The catalog contains the metadata that describes resources, or logical endpoints. For more information, see the about_remoteTroubleshooting Help topic.

pl advise thank you

I ran into this same problem and was able to solve it by enabling the following features:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:ServerManager-PSH-Cmdlets

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:BestPractices-PSH-Cmdlets

A reboot may or may not be necessary.

These two commands will install ServerManager and BestPractices PowerShell modules. I don't think that's enough to resolve this problem.

Here is KB976839 "Error message in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7 when you try to connect to a remote server: "Server Manager cannot connect to <server_name>"" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976839/en-us) that offers two solutions. One method involves a sconfig command, and other is based on PowerShell and configure-SMremoting.ps1 script.
