Copy/Paste Not Working on Logmein

Postby guest » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:35 am

Today, I can't copy/paste to a remote machine. If I highlight some text on my local machine, then copy to clipboard (CTL-C), then go to the remote machine and paste (CTL-V), the text from my local machine does not paste there. In fact, what "pastes" is the last thing I copied on that remote machine.

Is this feature broken today? It worked fine yesterday.

Found the answer (well, an answer that works for me!):

Exit Logmein (or possibly just disconnect from the remote PC). Then, on the local machine, go to Start > Run > Regedit and enter the Windows Registry. Browse to the following registry key and only this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LogMeIn. Delete this LogMeIn registry key.

Restart/reconnect.

Then the copy/paste function starts to work consistently again. I don't know if there are any other side effects (because I can't re-locate the wiki page where I saw this advice!)

Or you could just use the LogMeIn menu to transfer clipboard contents from local PC to host PC. ....

Yes, but the problem is that, occasionally, it stops working (the "paste" menu function remains 'grey' after doing a "copy"). Which I think is the OPs problem. The suggestion I made seems to 'clear the decks'...

i had the copy paste ( clipboard ) stop working between host and remote machines with logmein rescue before. the culprit was ThreatFire Antivirus from PC Tools. Uninstall it and it will start working again

You have to click the icon on the toolbar on the top right, looks like a clipboard....

which is a LARGE STEP BACKWARDS

One of the things I liked best about LMI was the ability to copy/paste invisibly. Having to do something is back to pcAnywhere...

AND you have to click the clipboard each time... just like pcAnywhere. Or at least I have had to click the clipboard every time I've tried to do it. Maybe I need to change a setting.

So far, I DO NOT like the new version.

I've had the same problem recently. Here's what I've found. I thought it just stopped working randomly (and ticking to activate copy paste from one PC to another does NOT make it start working again - it's already ticked to do that!)

When I log in and start work it is fine.

What seems to stop it working from PC to PC and restrict it to just pasting in from within the application I use is if I actually DO paste something in from the content editor I am working with.

So far, I have found that the only way to get it to start working again is to log out and back in which is a real pain.

And the only way to keep it working is to never copy and paste anything in from the CE I am working remotely with. Which is also a real pain as I am used to being able to paste from within it and from my own PC.
