Can't access webDAV using HTTPS

Postby chicagotech » Sat Oct 25, 2008 3:07 pm

Q: I create a WebDAV using port 81. That works fine. However, I can't make it working using https. First of all I tried to assign port 8090 for SSL and I can telnet it the port 8089. But if I access it using https://localost:8090 or https://ipaddress;8090 I receive "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"Then I try the to setup port 60603. I get the same error. How do you troubleshoot it?

A: This is a common error when SSL mechanism doesn't work. I'd suggest you run
SSLDiag on this server to scan the whole SSL configuration. Generally it
will show us the details:

The Lastest version SSLDiag can be found at:

The problem is quite obvious. There is no web
server certificate installed on the test1 site. Therefore it's expected no
SSL stuff could work.

[ W3SVC/223085046 ]
ServerComment = test1
ServerAutoStart = True
ServerState = Server started
SecureBindings = :443:
#WARNING: SSL port (SecureBindings) set but certificate not installed

Have you used IIS server certificate wizard to generate a certificate
request and issued the cert on a Windows CA(certificate service)? Or was
the certificate issued from a third-party CA? If not, you can refer to the
following article to issue a server certificate with your own CA for the
web site.

I hope the information helps. Please let me know on any further question.
