How to add group computers to exchange relay

Postby chicagotech » Sat Oct 25, 2008 2:45 pm

Q: We are running Exchange 2003. We need to assign Ip range 10.0.5.100 to 10.0.5.110 for the relay. How do you do that?

The options are Single computer (this is what I am using now, but need to add them one by one), Group of computers (how do you do it? We are using class B, but don't want to add all of them) and Domain (I don't want to use it).

A: In the "Subnet address" box, input 10.0.5.100
In the "subnet mask" box, input 255.255.255.245

Then restart the following two services to make changes take effect.

Exchange System Attendant service
SMTP service

After configuring this, 11 (255-245+1) IP addresses are added to the Relay
list which start from "10.0.5.100"

If you want to allow 20 IP addresses in the relay list, we can configure
the "subnet mask" as "255.255.255.236"
