Can I uninstall or repair IE

Postby guest » Sat Oct 25, 2008 11:45 am

1.IE7 cannot be uninstalled from Vista individually
2.There is no available IE7 repair utility as far as I know, but I will do
my best to check with product team and get back to you.

Analysis:
=============
Such kind of issue can be triggered by below several causes:
1. IE setting
2. Problematic component used by iexplore.exe

Troubleshooting:
==============
1. How to reset IE
http://www.howtonetworking.com/msapps/ie.htm

2.Verify this issue in IE No Add-on mode
1) Close IE
2) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools
3) Launch IE (No Add-ons)

3.Replace key binaries used by iexplore.exe. URLMON.dll and WININET.dll
provide the functionality of URL parsing, so problematic handlers also can
result in slow response issue.
1) Search these files in %windir%\system32
2) Rename it to xxxx.dll.bak
3) Copy URLMON.dll and WININET.dll from a good Vista+IE7 machine to the
destination folder
4) Start -> Run -> regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then regsvr32 wininet.dll
