Can't purge mailbox

after removing a user account, his
mailbox remained in the Mailbox Store. However, when trying to remove it
from Exchange System Manager, you noticed that this mailbox cannot be
purged.

Before moving on, I would like to explain that after removing a user
account in ADUC, the mailbox will not be removed from store immediately.
Instead, it will be marked as deletion and will remain in the mailbox store
for a period of time that is specified by the mailbox store settings Keep
deleted mailboxes for (days). By default, this mailbox will be retained for
30 days; and then it will be deleted by Online Maintenance process
automatically after it expires. This setting can help us restore a mailbox
if it is deleted accidently.

In addition, the Online Maintenance also performs other tasks, e.g. the
Background Cleanup which is to check Active Directory to determine whether
there are any deleted mailboxes. If this task finds any deleted mailboxes,
it will make the purge option of mailboxes available. However, as this task
runs only one time in a 24-hour period, the Purge option will not be
available until the subtask is performed.

At this point, if you would like to remove this Exchange mailbox
immediately, we need to run the Cleanup Agent process manually. For your
reference, I have included the steps below:

Remove user's mailbox in Mailbox store.

1. Open Exchange System Manager (ESM).
2. Expand the Mailbox Store which you would like to remove specific user's
mailbox.
3. Expand Mailboxes, right click Mailboxes and click Run Cleanup Agent.
4. In the right Panel, right click on the mailbox you would like delete,
and select Purge.
