Setup cannot detect an SMTP or Send connector

Postby guest » Sun Oct 19, 2008 8:51 pm

when you were installing Exchange
Server 2007 on Windows 2008, a warning popped up, and you're wondering how
to deal with it.

Actually, this error is expected if you did not configure SMTP before you
install Exchange 2007. You could ignore this warning and proceed with the
Exchange installation.

Based on my research, during Exchange 2007 with integrated Service Pack 1
installation on Windows 2008 Server, the "Hub Transport Role Prerequisites"
test may provide the following error message:

Setup cannot detect an SMTP or Send connector with an address space of '*'.
Mail flow to the Internet may not work properly.".

The error means that your SMTP server is not configured, but we could
actually configure SMTP and connector after the Exchange server is
installed. So, we could safely ignore this warning and it does no harm to
your server.

Follow the below steps to configure your SMTP/Connector after the Exchange
is installed. If you could configure them successfully, it means your
installation is going well.

1. Complete the Exchange 2007 Installation.
2. Create a new "Send Connector" (SMTP Connector), configured it to use the
global address " * " and the scope "Internet". You can refer to the
