Postby chicagotech » Mon Sep 25, 2017 5:27 pm

One of my client asks this question. I search it, but can't get answer.

Is it correct that all my nice sql 2008R2 scripts will not work on sql 2012?

here is an example sql 2012

using SP_DBOPTION "Lytec Tutorial",SINGLE,TRUE

I get Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1
Could not find stored procedure 'SP_DBOPTION'.

From your description, I understand that you want to know if SQL Server 2008 R2 scripts can work on SQL 2012. If anything is misunderstood, please let me know.

Based on my research, SQL 2008 R2 scripts can be worked on SQL Server 2012.

Regarding to your first scenario

==========================

And I notice that you got an error message ‘Could not find stored procedure ‘SP_DBOPTION’’. So before moving forward, may I know that was the Stored procedure a System procedure or Customized procedure. If it is a Customized Procedure by ourselves, we need run the scripts of SP_DBOPTION in a specified Database in SQL Server 2012 first. Then we can successfully execute this SP ‘SP_DBOPTION’.

Regarding to your second scenario

==========================

I notice that there is a space in the middle of the database name, which needs to be enclosed in parentheses.

Hope it helps and thanks for your time.
