Malwarebytes: RPC server is unavailable

Postby chicagotech » Tue Apr 04, 2017 3:02 pm

Situation: When attempting to scan or install Malwarebytes client, you may receive this message: "RPC server is unavailable. Please allow WMI through Windows Firewall".

Troubleshooting:
You may experience this problem, even with the firewall off, depending on the permissions settings of a target endpoint.
RPC server is unavailable. Please allow WMI through Windows Firewall.
If this occurs, open a command line window on the endpoint (as an administrator) and enter the following:
New commands:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="remote administration" new enable=yes
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Windows Remote Management" new enable=yes
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=yes

normally, If you receive this message "RPC server is unavailable. Please allow WMI through Windows Firewall" because you use WMI. You may also try to start Remote Registry service without using WMI.
