How to install SEP on a Windows 10

Postby blin » Tue May 31, 2016 3:00 pm

To install a client on a Windows 10 machine please see the information and steps below:
Support for a client installation on a Windows 10 machine is not available until version 12.1.6 MP1 and above. If you are already running a supported version of the SEPM then please complete the following steps:
1. Reboot the Windows 10 client to prevent a prompt for a pending reboot
2. On the Windows 10 client machine open up Services for Windows and confirm the "Remote Registry" Service is started. You can manually start it by highlighting the service and selecting "Start" in the upper left corner (Note: This is required only if executing a remote installation of the client)
3. If executing a local installation of the client please make sure the installation package has been placed on the local machine of the client, and not being executed from a share.
4. On the Windows 10 client please manually disable Windows Defender by completing the following steps:
• Open up Settings in Windows
• Select Update & Security
• Select Windows Defender
• Turn off the option for Real-Time Protection
5. Once Windows Defender is disabled try pushing or executing the client installation once more
