Can I uninstall and reinstall Office Student Edition

Postby guest » Thu Jan 07, 2016 2:47 pm

Q: We have MS Office 2010 Student & Home Edition installed on our Desktop. We may replace it with a new laptop soon. Can I uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office 2010 Student & Home Edition without additional charge?

A: It shouldn’t be a problem. You are allowed to install Microsoft Office 2010 Student & Home Edition on up to three PCs. If you have reached the limit, providing you uninstall one copy from the old PC it should install as normal on the new computer. If, for any reason the automatic, on-line activation fails simply call the telephone number that will appear during installation. Explain the situation to the Microsoft representative and they should be able to talk you through the activation process.

I read that I can install MS Office Home and Student 2010 on 3 computers. If I install/activate it on my computer, computer crashes, then reinstall/reactivate it on the same computer - would that count as 2 separate installations/activations?

as long as you uninstall the program and then re-install it on the same machine, you should be able to do it until the time runs out. I also had the same problem and that is the answer tech support gave me and so far, I have done it four times with no problems.

U may install as many times as ur desire. But remember, it may be activated on 3 computers at any one time only and Off-home / student eula states that the SW may not be used for commercial / non-profit / even revenue-generating activities.

If you have a problem to re-install it, you may have to contact Microsoft Licensing on this issue so they can reset your usage number in their system. I have had this happen when I had system hard drive crash, and I contacted them to have the count reset. They did it at the same time they reset the count for the O/S. There is also a registry hack that is provided by Microsoft to reset the License key. number. I have Office 365 five user license installed on my system which means that I can install it 5 places. I do have to uninstall it, notify Microsoft that I have uninstalled it, to clear my license count for a specific machine, and then I can install it somewhere else.
