Deploying updates via SCUP - error 2148204548

Postby guest » Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:47 am

We Use SCUP 4.5 with SCCM 2007 SP1 R2 (on the same server). Mixed mode, self-signed WSUS certificate for software updates. Certificate distributed via GPO to clients, "Allow signed content..." in gpo for clients set.

I followed DELL recommendations (http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/so ... anager.pdf)

The updates are imported fine in SCCM. The updates are downloaded to the clients, but will not install! I get this error message:

"The operating system reported error 2148204548: The subject is not trusted for the specified action."

I tried to google this error without any luck, only some old indication that this might be an issue with the certificate Dell is using to sign their files...

I then tried distributing an Adobe flash update as well and got the same error! Microsoft updates works fine.

In the WUAHandler.log on the client I get this:

"Successfully completed synchronous searching of updates. WUAHandler 12.05.2009 14:15:27 1180 (0x049C)
1. Update: 51871c91-4a55-4cf8-92a4-17e09832f0bb, 7 BundledUpdates: 0 WUAHandler 12.05.2009 14:15:27 1180 (0x049C)

"
0x800b0004 hex in dec = 2148204548.

Anyone seen this problem before?

Please help, I can not deploy any non-microsoft updates.

Hi, yes with a workaround.

For Dell updates to work, you need to distribute "Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent" to your Dell PC's first.

The Adobe flashplayer 10.1 update needs to be edited in SCUP. Clear the "Command Line (Quiet)" field. Publish the update again and deploy the new update with SCCM.

A silly "mistake" by Adobe, they should get this right the next time:-)
