MOSS: "Server Error in '"/" Application RUNTIME ERROR

Postby guest » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:16 am

I was installing MOSS using remote log-in and went through the "Setup" and "SharePoint Products and Technologies Congfig Wizard". Near the end of the wizard I see the Success Page and SHOULD be able to view the SharePoint Central Admin Page but get this:

"Server Error in '"/" Application RUNTIME ERROR Description: An alpplication error occured on the server. The current custom error setting for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine please create a <customErrors> tag within a web.config file located in teh root directory of the current web application, This <custom error> tag should have its mode attribute set to "Remote Only: To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines please set mode to "off".

<configuration>

<system.web>

<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"/>

</system.web>

</configuration>

Where can I find the web.config file and do I have to insert a new tag or just replace "Remote Only" attribute with "Off" ?

I had the similar problem when i installed moss and clicked on central admin. I did some google and was able to figure out from different sources that it was something to do with some sort of security. So I cleared all my event viewer logs and then tried to access central admin.

I was able to get the error.

"The current identity (NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE) does not have write access to 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\
Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files'.
"

So just navigate to this folder and give the service account you are using, write access through the security tab.

Hope this helps
