Emails stay in queue because of low space in log drive

Situation: the client is running Exchange 2010. The exchange is running slow and many email stay in the queue.

Troubleshooting: We found the log file drive is low space and there are a lot old log files. The problem is the Exchange backup hasn't backup for one month. We fixed the problem by running Exchange full backup to clear the log files. We had a similar case. Our Exchange log file drive has over 2GB free spaces. However, when we do the backup, it eats a lot spaces and the log drive then low to less than 1Gb spaces and our emails stuck in the queue until the backup completed.
