Have you changed vista'a workgroup name to HOME?

In Vista Network and Sharing, make sure that:

1 network discovery is ON

2 file sharing is ON

3 public folder sharing is ON (That is XPs Shared Docs)

4 Network is set to private

5 password protect is OFF

Have a read of the above link.

Where is Net view from another computer???

I had explained the view from workgroups.  Is this what you mean?

The link you provided only talks about sharing and security settings.  I had

already verified all of this?

When I Enter Net Stat I can see the Vista PC.  I can also the shares folder

on the VistaPC vis Workgroup.  My problem is I can't accrss the Vista C

drive.  I get the non accessible message.  I have turned sharing on for this

drive.  Also gave everyone all access.  Also on the security tab, allowed All

Access for all Group or User names.

On the Vista machine, I can see all of the XP machines hard drives that are

shared.

Under Advanced Sharing  I called the Share name "C".  That is exactly what it

said to do in the link Mick sent.  I still can't access it.

I've run the xp home network wizard and configured Vista's settings as the

how-to says.

This is the error I get when I try to access the vista pc from xp (I'll

translate it in english):

"Impossible to access \\COMPUTERNAME. The user could not have enough rights

to use this net resource. Not able to find the network path."

And when I access the xp comp from vista i get this error:

"Impossible to access \\COMPUTERNAME - A network component doesn't work

properly. A Layered Service Provider isn't up-to-date."

And below I have the option to "delete the component that doesn't work

properly"

What sould I do??

Hi Dan:

Same problem here using Windows Vista32bit Ultimate OEM.

"Cannot Disable Password Protected Sharing" in "Network and Sharing Center"

Logged on as Administrator user (also tried full administrator).

I can toggle "On" to "Off" icons ( to "Turn Off Password Protected sharing")

but when I click on "Apply" it swaps back to On.

I also have Windows Vista Home Premium notebook and that can toggle this

setting OK.

Computer only 2 weeks old.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers Sharpy

PS The urgency is off now, because my original fault was...

I could not access the Windows Vista Home Premium notebook via the network.

Problem solved by changing a setting in Windows Vista Home Premium - Nortons

Firewall

Firewall Setting - Accept my other computer's IP address.

Came up with error code 0x80070005

I started with a clean boot and it was the same result.

Subject: Re: Chap V1 for VPN Connectivity

I agree here, as we have the exact same problem.  I checked with Cisco TAC

and they said since we are doing L2TP over IPSec, that PAP would be OK, since

it is all encrypted by IPSec first.  Otherwise, PAP should be banned.  It

should have been removed long before MSCHAPv1 was.

Regardless, the article referenced still doesn't address MSCHAPv1.  MS needs

to either document a fix or better explain this one.

Your post is almost impossible to read and doesn't make much sense. I'm

not saying this to hurt your feelings, but using white space,

paragraphs, and/or numbered points would have been much better. I have

read through this twice and I still don't know what you've got and what

you've done. Again, I'm not saying this to make you feel bad but I

really do think the best solution for you will be to have a computer

professional come on-site and set you up properly. This will not be

someone from a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place.

If you want to soldier on and try and get help from this newsgroup, then

please please read the information at this link which will show you what

information is needed in your next post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

An example of what would make it easy for people to help you would be

something like:

1. Description of computer #1 - including which Windows operating system

(ex. Vista Home Premium, XP Home with Service Pack 2)

2. Description of computer #2

3. How you connect to the Internet - your ISP, whether you use cable or

DSL, and the make/model of your router.

4. What your end goal is - to have Internet access on both machines and

be able to share files and printers?
