Microsoft Word Normal.Dot issues

Q: I have progressively been receiving a larger number of error messages related to Word. Now they are cropping up while I am in Outlook and don’t have any Word documents open. The error message states Word quit unexpectedly and asks me to over-write the existing Word Normal.dot template. I don’t really feel comfortable doing that and try to escape but get caught in a loop. The only way out of the loop is bring up the Task Manager and close Word.

Resolution 1: Repair. Run Word, go to Help and click Detect and Repair. After the repair starts close the Office program so that only the repair is running.

2. If the resolution 1 does not do the trick then deleting the template “Normal.Dot”. You may want to search to find all Normal.dot and delete them.

3. Also make sure Prompt to save Normal template is uncheck. To do that, click Tools>Options>Save as shown below.
