Troubleshooting mail flow using message trace in Office 365- Resolution with screenshots

Sometimes an email message gets lost in transit, or you may get a user complaints about losing emails. You can troubleshoot email delivery problems by using the Exchange Online message trace tool.

1. Login Office 365 portal.

2. Click Click Admin and then select Exchange.


4. Under Exchange admin center, click on mail flow.

5. Click message trace.

6. Select Date range, Delivery status, Sender or/and Recipient.


7. To enter the Sender name, type it in check names.

8. You can also double click the delivered message to check more details such as Message ID, From IP, date and time.
