NTBackup doesn’t work with Last result: 0x1f Resolution with screenshot

Situation: The client use SBS NTBackup to back up whole system to an external drive. It doesn’t work with Last result: 0x1f. The Event has this log

Event Type:    Error

Event Source:            NTBackup

Event Category:        None

Event ID:         8017

Description: NTBackup error: 'The operation failed. Consult the Backup Report for more details.'

Case 1: It could be Security issue. In our case, the backup destination is an external hard disk and the backup account doesn't have rights on the disk. .Right backup job and select Properties. add backup account with full rights.

Case 2:  when you log out of computer, the login credentials for the mounted drive letters may no longer exist. If this is a case choosing,  switch User instead of Logoff should keep that session active.

Case 3: If you use a mapping drive,  you may want to switch the mapped drive UNC, for example,

Z:\MonBackups

to:

\\ReadyNAS\backup\MonBackups
