Exchange 2007 and 2010 Initialization Failed Error

Q: We set two Exchange 2010 servers for replication. When opening EMC from one of Exchange servers, we get this error: Initialization failed. The following error occurred while attempting to connect to the specified Exchange server servername. How do you troubleshoot it?

Case 1: the EMC was trying to connect to another server. If we change the the connection from remote server to local server, it works. To do that, open EMC. Right click on the Microsoft Exchange On-premises (servername) and select Properties. In Specify a server to connect, select the local Exchange server.

Case 2: If it is connecting to the remote Exchange server, make sure you can access it.

Case 3: The following error occurred when getting user information for 'domain.org\adminname':
The operation couldn't be performed because object 'domain.org\adminname' coudn't be found on 'dcname.name.domain.org'. It was running the command 'Get-LogonUser'.

I checked all the permissions and still no luck. Was searching online but didn't find any solution for the problem. Found someone mentioning issues with domain NETBios name having a period. Don't know if that exactly the case and how to resolve it. Any help greatly appreciated.

I have following scenario:
1 AD forest with 1 AD domain and 1 AD site; 2 domain controllers: Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2. Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003. Domain NETBios name: Domain.org ; FQDN name: Name.Domain.org.

Resolution: please check this post: Exchange 2010 Emc Error

Case 3: check the firewall and make sure no firewall blocks the communication between two servers.
