Sent email stays in the queue Can telnet IP but not domain name Can ping IP but not domain name Situation: When the client sent email to ChicagoTech.net, the mail stays in queue and never reach the ChicagoTech.net mail server. Troubleshooting: 1. We can ping the mil server by IP but no name. If you try to ping the name, it comes with this message: "Ping request could not find host chicagotech.net. Please check the name and try again". 2. We can telnet the mail server port 25 by IP but not domain name. 3. We check the MX status using nslookup, it respond. 4. We also try above methods from other outside computers. WE receive the same result. Conclusion and solution: The mail server has a DNS issue and beyond our control. After we add domain name in hosts, the client can send the mail to ChicagoTech.net without any delay. Note: you may fix this issue by adding the A record on your DNS if
you have one.
