Can’t import group policy with No backup found - Resolution with screenshots

Q: We try to copy a group policy from one Windows 2003 Domain Controller to another Domain Controller. We have exported the policy successfully. When attempting to import using Restore, it days” No backup found”. What could be the problem?

A: First of all, Restore from Backup is working on the same GPO.
To restore a backed-up Group Policy object
I. To restore a previous version of an existing GPO
==========================
1. Double-click Group Policy Objects, right-click the GPO which you want to restore, and then click Restore from Backup.
2. When the Restore Group Policy Object Wizard appears, follow the instructions and provide the appropriate information about the GPO that you want to restore, and then click Finish.
3. After the Restore Group Policy Object Wizard completes the restore operation, click OK.

II. To restore a deleted GPO
==========================
1. Right-click Group Policy Objects and then choose Manage Backups.
2. In the Manage Backups dialog box, in the Backup location box, type the path to the backup folder. You can also use Browse to locate the backup folder.
3. In the Backed up GPOs box, select the GPO that you want to restore from the list of GPO backups shown, and then click Restore.
4. When prompted to confirm the restore operation, click OK.

------------------------------------ -------
However, from your screenshots I understand that you want the GPO ”testimport”  using the same settings as GPO “FolderRedirection”. If I have misunderstood anything, please let me know.

In this scenario, we can implement this operation by Import Settings.
For example,  if GPO “123” wants to import settings from GPO “test”, we can do as below:

NOTE:
Before importing a GPO settings, we must have a backup copy  of the GPO first.

1. The Original GPO “123”.

2. Right click GPO “123”, select Import Settings… to import GPO “test”.

3. Import GPO “test” successfully.

4. Then the Settings of GPO “123” is the same as GPO “test”.
