Can I setup ICS using different IP range instead of 192.168.0.1 Q: When I configure Internet Conection Sharing in Windows 2000 Professional, the NIC card that acts as the "WAN" in the setup is automatically get the IP address of 192.168.0.1 and then Win2k uses the other NIC as the "LAN" side of the connection. My question is can I tell W2K NOT to use the default 192.168.0.1, but something like 192.168.1.1 or even 192.168.0.1. A1: You may, but it is not recommended. A2: Just change it in TCP/IP properties. It works just fine, but you WILL have to assign your other ICS client's IP settings manually, as the DHCP server only works with the default 192.168.0 settings. (I ran my home Internet for years with that setup).Related Topics VPN General
