Can't access remote computer because the Node type is setup Peer-Peer Q1: I have a laptop with XP2 Home installed. I have a simple home and a simple office network setup that I have been connecting to without problems for several months. I have a cable modem plugged into a router with other computers connected to the router in both home and work network. Suddenly, my computer will not recognize other computers on the network. The network name is Mshome. I have tried uninstalling Microsoft Windows Network and reinstalling. On the network card, I have Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, FQoS Packet Scheduler, Network Monitor Driver, AEGIS Protocal (IEEE 802.1x) v3.1.6.0, NWLink NetBIOS, NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) installed that has been installed from day one when I got this computer. I have tried turning the firewall
off and on. I can only see my computer on the network. A1:
Start by simplifying your network stack. Remove NWLink NetBIOS and If no improvement, or you don't
wish to do the above, provide "browstat Q2: The following is the ipconfig.txt. Where do I go from here? Windows IP Configuration

The node-type is causing you not to be able to resolve names. ('Peer-Peer'
is actually someone at MS's incorrect decoding of the 'P-P',which actually
means Point to Point in this context.) What this actually means is 'use
only a WINS server', which you won't have. This should cause the node type to
default correctly. Related Topics
